There could be MANY causes for this. But one common issue I see is scapula winging. This can be caused by a knot in our pec, subscapularis, weak serratus and rounded posture from sitting in the car, being glued to our phones and sitting at the desk all day. The pains that you feel (especially when you are suffering a shoulder impingement) is not permanent and can be fixed. If you can see or feel your scapula protruding and can see the scupula is not gliding and functioning as it should, here are a few tips. - Be diligent getting a ball into the knots in the muscle (daily or even twice daily to begin) - Re-train scapula movements (retraction/protraction, depression (not shown here today) - Re-train pulling movements. When performing horizontal pulls like a seated row, think about keeping the elbows as low as possible. When performing vertical pulling movements such as a lat pull down, pull the elbows towards your hips and don’t allow the elbow to pull backwards where your shoulder rotates forwards. If you are suffering from pain, don't ignore it, go and see someone to get the issue diagnosed and do the homework exercises religiously.
